Overnight Treatments for African American Hair

African American hair tends to be much drier and coarser then other hair types, so it needs special care and overnight treatments in order to soften and hydrate it. Here are some great overnight hair treatments for African American hair.

African American hair is thicker and coarser so special care is needed for this type of hair. In order to keep the hair looking in good condition you must take good care of your tresses.
Deep conditioning is a must if you want your hair to look and feel good. For the deep conditioner to fulfill it's duties you must use it along with heat to allow the conditioner to penetrate the hair.

If your hair is dry you might want to use overnight hair treatments in order to make the hair look and feel smoother.
There are overnight hair treatment products you can buy, as Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat or Nexxus Humectress.

There are several other ways you can treat your hair over night with homemade recipes. They are easy to make and can benefit the hair since they are made with natural ingredients only and contain no chemicals. Here are some homemade overnight hair treatment recipes:

For extra dry/damaged hair

Mix a few tablespoons of pure jojoba oil with a little bit of water so it will be easier to apply. Apply the mixture on all your hair starting from the ends and working your way up.
Gently massage the scalp to promote blood circulation and wrap your hair with a warm towel.
Secure the towel and leave the treatment to work overnight. Wash and condition your hair the next morning as usual. Apply the treatment two times a week if your hair is very dry.

For damaged hair

Warm up a small quantity of extra virgin olive oil and apply it on your entire head, from the scalp towards the ends. Gently massage your scalp to promote blood circulation and wrap a warm towel around your head.
Leave the rich oil to work overnight and wash your hair as usual. Repeat a couple of times a week if necessary.

For combating hair loss and promote hair regeneration

Mix some Castor oil with a few drops of vitamin A and E. Apply the mixture on your scalp and massage it in so it cover the whole area. Take a warm towel and wrap it around your head. Let the treatment work overnight and wash in the morning as usual. Apply conditioner and repeat the treatment 2 or 3 times a week.
