How to Clean Hairbrushes and Combs

To keep your hair brushes clean and grime free you need to know how to wash them. Here are 3 ways to clean your brushes and combs.

Hairbrushes and combs over time can gather dust, dirt and hairstyling products that you use to style your hair between the bristles or teeth. All these styling products can make the hairbrushes and combs dirty and unhealthy to use on your hair. Here are 3 ideas to clean your combs and brushes:

Take the brush and one comb and rake through the brush with the help of the comb to remove the hair from them. Place them under running water and apply a small amount of shampoo. Rub the bristles against each other so the dirt can be removed. Rinse and shake the excess water out. Use a towel to dry them or place them on a towel facing down.

Clean the hair out of the styling tools. Soak the hairbrushes and combs into a mixture of ¼ cup of ammonia and 1 cup of warm water. Leave them in the mixture for about 15 minutes. Rinse them, towel dry or place them on a towel facing down. Take ½ cup mild bleach, ½ cup warm water and mix them together. Place the styling tools into the mixture and leave them in for about half an hour. Rinse the brushes/combs well and pat them dry using a towel. Your styling tools should be clean, grime free and ready to make your hair look gorgeous. Clean them at least once a week or as needed.
