Hat Head Tips How to Get Volume for Oily Stringy Roots
Hats and caps can make great fashion statement while protecting your skin and hair from sun damage or keeping your head toasty warm in winter. They're also great for plastering your hair to your head, knocking all the body out of it, and making even the cleanest hair look oily and stringy at the roots. For those of us who struggle daily to coax a little volume or curl into our hair, nothing is more deflating than arriving at work or school looking like you slept with a bowl on your head. If your hair easily loses it's shape, it's best to avoid hats whenever possible. For warmth, try substituting ear muffs, a headband that covers just the ears and forehead, a loose scarf or hood. For sun protection, wear a visor, a cap with loose-fitting crown, or a light, airy scarf. Of course, some people have to wear a cap or helmet on the job. at the end of your shift, try fluffing the body back into your flattened locks with some powder as explained in the Quick Fix for Dirty Hair article. |
