No season is complete without a must-have updo and those in the know will be swapping their ponytails for buns this spring.
From neat, roughed-up, or glossy ballerina buns worn at the nape of the neck to slick creations secured high on the head - plenty of styles to choose from.

To achieve anything other that a teeny tiny bun, hair needs to fall to the shoulders or longer. Remember not to wash your hair prior to styling - day-old hair will have more 'grip' and be less flyaway that super-clean tresses.

For a subtly shiny finish, work a small amount of styling cream through hair before smoothing back with a bristle brush and twisting tightly until hair coils back on itself.
Use pins to secure and don't worry if a few small strands escape the bun - this was big news at Alberta Ferretti or Karl Lagerfeld.

Ditch the 'bun ring' - these styles are more about twisted or rolled finish, than a perfectly shaped dome. Imitate the effect by separating a ponytail into two, then twist one section around the other, shape into a bun and pin hair at the nape.
